“Application and demonstration of experience in the use of photovoltaic solar energy in the ecological restoration of the Aral Sea basin” As part of the signing of an agreement between the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region and the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography on the joint implementation of the innovative project “Application and demonstration of experience in the use of photovoltaic solar energy in the ecological restoration of the Aral Sea basin” worth 500,000 US dollars, and the project was launched. The project is planned to be implemented jointly with relevant foreign and local organizations in 2023-2025. The project is important in that the project will allow the expansion of the experience of developing the “photovoltaic + ecological” industry to the region’s settlements in highly saline areas, the construction of small distributed photovoltaic power plants, the cultivation of halophytic and desert-salt-tolerant plants under them, the installation of solar panels and supporting energy storage, and thereby serving green development, improving the living conditions of the population. Objective of the project: Combining solar photovoltaic energy and plant regeneration to enable efficient use of land for clean electricity production and sustainable development. Expected results
- Experimentation and demonstration of a water-saving irrigation system powered by photovoltaic energy.
- Desalination and photovoltaic energy applications
- New energy and environmental management
- Sustainable environmental management of the Aral Sea basin and increasing land productivity
- Establishing a strong international alliance for cooperation in research and development through project implementation
- Receive recognition of the demonstration effect from local authorities and international organizations and publish success stories and reports on Aral Sea management on the UNCCD and UNEP platforms
