Another training seminar was held in the Amu Darya district as part of the international project “Development of Sustainable Agricultural Systems in Degraded Areas of Karakalpakstan”. The main focus was on the introduction of modern agricultural technologies, increasing the fertility of saline lands and adapting agriculture to climate change.
The event was organized by the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea Region and the Karakalpak Research Institute of Agriculture with the support of the Abu Dhabi Development Fund.
The seminar brought together more than 110 participants, including farmers, representatives of dekhkan farms, owners of household plots and students of agricultural programs. The participants got acquainted with methods of restoring degraded soils, effective ways of managing water resources and new technologies for increasing crop yields.
- Farmer support and innovative solutions
One of the key aspects of the seminar was the provision of participants with seeds of 12 types of agricultural crops that are resistant to salinity and drought. These crops will help local farmers increase crop yields in arid climates. Experts shared practical recommendations on the use of water-saving technologies, the use of adapted plant varieties and the effective management of farmland. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions to experts and discuss promising solutions for the development of agriculture in the region.

A series of training seminars held in different regions of Karakalpakstan demonstrates the high interest of farmers in modern agricultural methods. Further dissemination of knowledge and advanced technologies will increase the productivity of agricultural production and improve the environmental situation in the region.
