The Republic of Karakalpakstan continues to implement the international project “Development of Sustainable Agricultural Systems in Degraded Areas of Karakalpakstan”, aimed at restoring soil fertility and introducing advanced agricultural technologies.
As part of this project, a training program was launched in partnership with the International Center for Bio-Agriculture in Salinity Conditions ICBA, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea Region and the Karakalpak Research Institute of Agriculture, with the support of the Abu Dhabi Development Fund.
The training seminar, which was held in the Khodjeyli district with the support of the district Khokimiyat, brought together farmers, representatives of dekhkan farms, owners of household plots and young people. In total, more than 120 participants attended the events.
The seminar was opened by ICBA Director General Dr. Tarifa Alzaabi (online), who noted the importance of introducing innovative technologies to overcome the effects of climate change and land degradation.
Director of the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region Bakhytzhan Khabibullaev emphasized the importance of the project, noting the close relationship with foreign partners in the implementation of this initiative, as well as the use of foreign plant varieties specially adapted to the difficult conditions of the Aral Sea region.
During the events, participants were introduced to modern methods of restoring degraded soils, the use of water-saving technologies and efficient resource management, and received seeds of 12 types of tested crops for propagation.
The main focus was on adapting agriculture to changing climatic conditions, which in the long term will have a positive impact on the environmental and economic situation in Karakalpakstan.
