Within the framework of the GIZ project “Environmentally oriented regional development of the Aral Sea region”, a visit was made by a delegation of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ). The main purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the projects implemented in the territory of the Republic of Karakalpakstan by the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea Region (IICAS).

BMZ representatives studied in detail the activities of the Center, its infrastructure and innovative approaches used for the ecological restoration of the region. An important point of the program was the discussion of a new project aimed at developing medicine in rural areas in the conditions of the climatic features of the Aral Sea region, such as high temperatures, reduced precipitation and soil salinization. The project is aimed at adapting medical services to the specific conditions of the region and improving the quality of life of the local population.

The visit emphasized the importance of strengthening international cooperation and interaction between the public and private sectors in solving environmental and social problems. BMZ representatives noted the high efficiency of the Center’s work and expressed their readiness for fruitful cooperation, contributing to the restoration and development of the Aral Sea region.
