At the initiative of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, a delegation from the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led by Director General Zhang Yuanming, arrived on a working visit to Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to implement joint research projects aimed at solving environmental problems of the region, such as desertification and land degradation. The process of negotiations has also begun on the opening of a branch of the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Uzbekistan. At the same time, during the negotiations, the prospects for an internship for students of the Central Asian University of Environmental Studies and Climate Change Green University at the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences were discussed, an agreement was reached on holding summer schools and implementing joint projects in the field of introducing information technology in issues environmental protection.
During the visit, the Chinese delegation got acquainted with the activities of the GIS center of the Research Institute of Environment and Environmental Technologies and highly appreciated the technological approach and the use of drones in solving environmental issues.
