Aquaponics is an innovative promising technology in agriculture

Modern aquaponics, which combines aquaculture and hydroponics into integrated farming operations, is becoming a key technology for sustainable agricultural development. With the support of the UN Development Program, the Aral Sea International Innovation Center initiated and successfully launched a project to create a smart aquaponic system, which is an effective alternative to traditional methods of producing fish and agricultural products.

This cutting-edge system aims to improve the sustainability and productivity of agriculture in the region while ensuring minimal environmental impact. Saving resources is a key advantage of this system. Water consumption is reduced by 90% compared to traditional agriculture, which is considered a significant achievement in a region where water is critical. An aquaponic system uses water as efficiently as possible, allowing for a symbiosis between fish and plants. This not only helps save resources but also creates new opportunities for the development of rural areas.

A unique project in the Republic of Uzbekistan “Creation of a demonstration and training base for an aquaponics system in the Republic of Karakalpakstan” not only demonstrates new opportunities in food production but also aims to build regional capacity using sustainable agriculture methods. Based on this technology, it is planned to produce more than 5 tons of vegetables, including strawberries, lettuce, and other types, in one season. This will provide a stable source of income and nutritious food for the local population.

Integrated agro-aquafarms based on a smart aquaponic system represent the future of agriculture. They provide high productivity, resource savings, and sustainable protein consumption, making this technology an important element in rural development. The introduction of a smart aquaponic system will not only improve the environmental situation in the region but will also create new jobs, improve the standard of living of the local population, and make a significant contribution to the development of sustainable agriculture. This project will be an example of the successful use of innovative technologies to solve global challenges.
