On the frame of the COP28 Climate Change Summit, work on the development of the Aral Sea region and the prevention of dust storms was discussed.

An event was held in the Uzbekistan pavilion at the Dubai Expo complex in Dubai on the topic “Mapping and mitigating sources of dust storms (DSS) in Central Asia.” The seminar, organized as part of the World Climate Forum COP28, was attended by high-ranking representatives, including UN Deputy Secretary-General Ibrahim Thiau, Minister of Environment of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov, and Director of the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region Bakhytzhan Khabibullaev. At the event, Ibrahim Thiaw discussed the results of the 21st session of the Committee to Review the Implementation of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (CRIC21), which was recently held in Samarkand.
