In order to implement the tasks set by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 16, 2017 No. PP-2970 “On measures to increase production and industrial processing of licorice root (licorice) in the Republic of Uzbekistan”, as well as Resolution dated November 26, 2020 No. PP-4901 “On measures to expand the scale of scientific research on the cultivation and processing of medicinal plants, the development of their seed production,” November 24, 2023. International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region, together with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the International Center for Biofarming in Saline Soil Conditions ( ICBA) is implementing the project “Sustainable cultivation of licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra-L.) in the Aral Sea region.” As part of this project, a research seminar was held on the effective cultivation of licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra-L.) at the Samanbay experimental site of the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region. Workshop participants learned how to grow licorice efficiently and sustainably, as well as information on drought mitigation and climate change adaptation measures. The purpose of the seminar was to demonstrate the implementation and study of the bioecological characteristics of licorice, as well as its planting technologies using seeds, roots, cuttings, various biostimulants, as well as the introduction of cultivation methods in soil salinity conditions. At the end of the seminar, participants were presented with the results of scientific research, including a study of the bioecological characteristics of licorice, an analysis of the climatic and soil conditions of the experimental site, soil preparation for planting, a study of propagation methods and optimal timing for planting seeds, seedlings and cuttings, as well as the growth and development of licorice root under the influence of external factors
