With the support of the Embassy of Israel in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Israel, from July 18, 2023, the director of the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea basin B. Khabibullaev, and several specialists take part in the MASHAV (Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation) course on effective water resources management which takes place in the State of Israel. This course is one of many educational programs offered by the Israel International Cooperation Agency. It is intended for professionals working in the field of water resources and allows them to gain the knowledge and skills necessary for the effective management of these resources and includes lectures, practical exercises, and exchange of experience with experts from Israel and other countries. Course participants will learn about advanced water management methods, such as the efficient use of technologies for wastewater treatment and processing, rainwater and surface water management, as well as the organization of a water quality monitoring and control system, these water resource management methods are very necessary for the Aral Sea region, which faces a high water scarcity. Also in Uzbekistan, MASHAV continues its work, which provides technical assistance around the world. MASHAV has been active in Uzbekistan since the first days of establishing diplomatic relations, and over the years, more than 2,000 Uzbek specialists have been trained in courses both in Israel and Uzbekistan, getting acquainted with Israeli know-how and technologies. The MASHAV course on effective water management is great importance for the Republic of Karakalpakstan and other countries of Central Asia, where water resources are critical to people’s lives and economies. It will help these countries ensure the sustainable use of water resources and preserve them for future generations.
