“Creation of drought-, heat- and salt-resistant, protein-rich varieties of spring wheat using marker breeding technology for the system of halophyte farming in the Aral Sea region”

The International Innovation Center for Aral Sea basin under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has developed an innovative applied project “Creation of drought-, heat- and salt-resistant, protein-rich varieties of spring wheat using marker breeding technology for the system of halophyte farming in the Aral Sea region”. The project became the winner of the joint Uzbek-Japanese competition of research projects SATREPS-2020 and was funded by the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Within the framework of this project, in cooperation with the Institute of Genetics and Experimental Biology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, samples of spring wheat were brought from International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center resistant to biotic and abiotic factors and having high yield and grain quality.
