The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Austria, together with the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region under the head of our state, Budapest Corvinus University, Karakalpak State University and the Swiss NGO “LATMA-ADED” implemented a project to provide clean drinking water to the population in the Aral disaster zone On May 16, 2022, foreign engineers met with representatives of the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea Region and discussed measures to implement a project to install water treatment equipment for local school No. 7, located in the village of Tikuzak, Muynak district, and living near the local population. After that, the installation and testing of the equipment on site was carried out. On May 20, all installation work was completed and the equipment was officially put into operation with the participation of the khakim of Muynak district, a representative of the Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan and local activists. As a result of the implementation of this project, more than 300 students and staff of the local school, as well as 229 households (1375 inhabitants) of the Tik Uzak village received access to clean drinking water. The project also has an educational component. Thus, students of Karakalpak State University had the opportunity to learn how to install, operate and maintain pumping and water treatment equipment. In addition, according to the Embassy, ​​at present, employees of the Corvinus University of Budapest and the NPO LATMA-ADED are studying the issue of installing similar water treatment plants for secondary schools No. 8 and No. 15 of the Takhiatash district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
