The drying up of the Aral Sea is a tragedy of a national and even global scale, undoubtedly leading to environmental, climatic, socio-economic and humanitarian consequences. This is one of the global environmental disasters resulting from human activities. It poses a direct threat to the stable development of Uzbekistan and the countries of the Aral Sea region, and also has a negative impact on the global ecosystem.
The tragedy of the Aral Sea worsened the climatic conditions of the region.
Unfortunately, it is impossible to completely restore the Aral Sea, but negative consequences can be mitigated. The most important task of our time is to reduce the destructive impact of the Aral Sea disaster on the environment and lifestyle of millions of residents of the Aral Sea region, as well as to prevent further deterioration of the climate.
At the conference, a presentation and discussion of the draft concept on three initiatives of the President was held: the organization of the zone of environmental innovation and technology in the Aral Sea region, the adoption of a special resolution of the UN General Assembly on declaring the Aral Sea region a zone of environmental innovation and technology, as well as the regional program for the rational use of Central Asian water resources.
Within the framework of the conference, meetings were organized in the areas of creating conditions for attracting foreign investment in the development and implementation of environmentally friendly technologies, the comprehensive implementation of the principles of the green economy, environmentally friendly energy and water saving technologies, eliminating the continuation of desertification and environmental migration, and the development of ecotourism.
