In accordance with the invitation letter of the Xinjiang Institute of ecology and geography, the Chinese Academy of Sciences in the period from 11 to 14 October 2019 in Urumchi, China held a Sino-Uzbek Symposium on Ecology, Environment and Regional Sustainable development.
The Symposium aims to bring together scientists from the two countries to discuss and exchange relevant environmental topics in Central Asia. To create a platform and opportunities for regional scientific cooperation, as well as to provide a scientific basis for solving major environmental problems and decision – making, ensuring the sustainable development of the region through in-depth systematic research in the near future.

The event was attended by scientists and specialists with reports and presentations from 24 organizations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and 45 organizations of China. Topical issues of ecology and environment of the Aral sea basin were touched upon and possible ways of their solution were discussed, with mutual cooperation between the two countries for the benefit of Central Asian countries.

The international innovation center of the Aral sea basin under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan participated in the Symposium and made a presentation on “Key environmental problems and mitigating measures for sustainable development of the Aral sea basin”, Director N. Y. Mirzamuratov and the chief specialist of Department of corporate and international communications S. A. Abutova.

The Symposium discussed issues related to improving the life of the Aral sea basin. And for cooperation between the two countries, in particular with the Xinjiang Institute of ecology and geography, KAN and the International innovation center of the Aral sea basin, a Memorandum of cooperation between the two organizations was signed.
