Since 1993, UNDP has been operating in Uzbekistan, working with the Government on sustainable development. UNDP activities are divided into three areas: sustainable economic growth, inclusive and democratic governance, adaptation to the effects of climate change and environmental protection.
Currently, the UNDP office in Uzbekistan is implementing the project “Ensuring the climate sustainability of farms and dehkan farms located in the arid regions of Uzbekistan”, aimed at ensuring the climate sustainability of farms and dehkan farms in the Northern regions of Karakalpakstan.
Thanks to the financial assistance of the UNDP office in Uzbekistan in the framework of the above-mentioned project, a greenhouse of 115 square meters was recently built on the territory of the Samanbay research and production area for experimental cultivation of various plant species for scientific purposes.
One of the important climate-resistant practices for the Aral sea basin is the cultivation of vegetable melons and other crops in greenhouses. Therefore, by growing plants in the climatic conditions of the Aral sea basin in greenhouses, the Center will have the opportunity to conduct research, introduce climate-resistant practices of crop production, thereby assisting in the expansion of knowledge and skills of farmers on effective greenhouse management.
