At the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC ECO) in the Republic of Kazakhstan, in August of this year, a competition of Central Asian projects in environmental areas was held. Teachers and students of the Nukus State Pedagogical Institute named after Azhiniyaz associate professor A. Azhiev, G. Almenova, G. Bekbergenova had became winner of the international project “The survival of seedlings with different planting methods in the Aral zone of the Republic of Karakalpakstan”.
According to the appeal to the Center, of the scientific group – winners of the above-mentioned project, was reached an agreement on the implementation of the project in the research and production sites “Samanbai” and “Muynak” of the “The International Innovation Center for the Aral sea basin under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan”. Currently, the scientific group has begun practical implementation of the project.
Within the framework of the project, an experiment will be conducted with plants like turangil, oleaster (jida), tamarix (jingil), euonymus, ailanthus and gledichia. Also, the scientific group began to conduct experimental tests on growing highly profitable agricultural plants on an area of 0.02 ha.
We hope that in the future, these efforts will have a significant impact on the development of the drained bottom of the Aral Sea, using local tree-shrub plants that can grow in poor soil and climate conditions of deserts with scarce rainfall.
