In order to familiarize ourselves with the implementation of paragraph 38 of the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 965-F (Roadmap) dated November 16, 2018 and paragraphs 52 and 53 of the protocol decision of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 21, 2018, July 27, 2019, the Minister of Innovation of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan I.Yu. Abdurakhmonov paid a visit to the International Innovation Center for the Aral Sea basin under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During his visit, the Minister got acquainted with the ongoing work of the Center at the Samanbay research and production site. During his visit, the Minister gave his advice and recommendations on the introduction of innovative methods for creating a nursery of desert breeds, ornamental and other plants, and also proposed the use of unconventional approaches to change the appearance of the scientific and production sites.
On the same day, the site was visited by a research group of scientists engaged in the study of desert plants of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, consisting of the representative of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture for Central Asia and the South Caucasus (ICBA-SAC), Prof. Christina Toderich and scientists from Japan, professor at the University Kuyushi – Tetsuya Kusuda, professor at Kitakuyushi University – Hidenari Yasui, and professor at Osaka University – Ryosuke Endo.
After reviewing the ongoing work, I.Yu. Abdurakhmonov had a conversation with a research group from Japan and the staff of the International Aral Innovation Center. During the conversation, all issues and problems related to improving the activities of the Center in the implementation of tasks were discussed.
The speeches of guests from Japan were heard, and they spoke about their scientific research, further intentions and shared their scientific findings from a study of the flora of our Republic. In conclusion, the guests expressed their readiness for a mutual exchange of experiences and expressed their intention to work closely with the Center in the implementation of work to mitigate the effects of the environmental crisis of the Aral Sea.
On July 28, on the second day of his visit, the Minister visited the Muynak research and production site located in the territory of the Tik-Uzyak SSG in the Muynak region. In the spring of 2019, a forest nursery was organized on this site, which grows more than 20 species of various ornamental species and an experimental site for the cultivation of oilseeds, medicinal and cereal crops in saline soils.
During the visit, special attention was paid to the reconstruction of the site, i.e. the construction of the field camp and intra-territorial highway, the improvement of the central estate of the site. The corresponding measures for the development of investment projects aimed at attracting appropriate donors and the introduction of modern advanced technologies in the Aral Sea region are outlined.
