The draft Concept “the Aral Sea Basin – the zone of environmental innovations and technologies” is being discussed in the Ministry of Innovative development.
The Interdepartmental Working Group with the participation of representatives of a number of ministries and departments, as well as deputies of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan began its work at the initiative of the Ministry of Innovation.
Various tasks and assignments were assigned before the working group, highlighted by the order No. 965-F of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan from the 16th November,2018.
They discussed Issues related to the desiccation of the Aral Sea, the negative consequences of the Aral Sea disaster, the study of the international practice of desert development, as well as the goals and objectives in terms improving the environmental conditions of the Aral Sea.
An agreement was reached on priorities on the implementating of the Concept for the Aral Sea region, including the monitoring of the dried bottom of the Aral Sea. The purpose of the document is to organize the continuous monitoring of the condition of the delta and the dried bottom of the Aral Sea using space observations and ground expeditions.
It is planned to attract experts from international organizations and neighboring countries to carry out work to reduce the consequences of the Aral Sea disaster.
It has been proposed to hold working meetings to develop the Concept involving the deputies of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, botanists specialists of the hydrometeorological service, energy, tourism, zoology.
The meeting discussed international innovation experience, issues of the attractiveness of the Concept for neighboring countries and international investors, as well as expressed ideas and suggestions on the content and directions of innovative works.
