The event, held under the slogan «Our Land. Our Future,» is attended by representatives of 197 Parties to the Convention (196 countries and the European Union). The conference will last until December 13 this year. The Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification is being held in the capital of Saudi Arabia from December 2 to 13. A number of high-level meetings are planned in the first days of the summit, during which participants will discuss problems related to land degradation, soil deterioration and drought. Following the conference, a final declaration is expected to be adopted.
Also at the panel session, the Director of the Aral Sea International Innovation Center met with the heads of the National Forestry and Pasture Bureau of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. In addition, discussions were held with partners from China, the UAE, Iran and others. The main topics were the development of cooperation in the field of ecology, the introduction of innovative technologies and the possibility of implementing joint projects, including afforestation initiatives. These meetings confirmed the high interest of international partners in joining efforts to address environmental challenges and strengthen cooperation for sustainable development.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on developing joint projects aimed at protecting the environment, as well as expanding cooperation in monitoring land degradation, combating desertification and dust storms.
